Wedding Toasts
Wedding Toasts
First a You Tube favorite, then our suggestions and links to some outstanding Internet resources.
Schedule the toasts for after dinner or after the cake cutting (we prefer after dinner since people tend to stray off later in the evening).
Typical toasting order:
- Best Man
- Groom's Father
- Bride's Father
- Groom
- Bride
- Friends and Relatives
- Maid/Matron of Honor
- Groom's Mother
- Bride's Mother
- Anyone else
This is a long list and we have been to many wedding where all these folks do toast and it can take quite a while. Our suggestion, keep the list short and schedule it ahead of time, then making room for any in the moment sentiments.
- Stand up!
- Introduce yourself
- Have your toast pre written and have your notes!
- Raise you glass to begin.
- Speak Up!
- Make eye contact!
- Keep it relevant, clean and positive!
- Don't talk about the ex's!
- Don't be sauced, speak it, don't slur it!
- Keep it around 3 minuets (typically).
- Raise you glass at the end, nod to the couple and drink!

The real bummer is that there are all sorts of links out there to professional speech writers. We do not think this is necessary.
